I started broadcasting at KAMU, an NPR affiliate in College Station, in 1982. I was Production Manager (splicing tape!) and on-air host. I worked with future Texas Radio Hall of Fame inductee Donna McKenzie, and Tony Davidson, host of Friday night’s “Red Hot & Blue” program.
Texas A&M Student radio KANM gave me a 1984 slot on Fridays, which I turned into “Blue Noon”, a weekend warm-up of rhythm & blues.
After moving to Austin I went on-air at KAZI in 1990. My program “Let’s Cool One” aired every Tuesday until 2021, and now airs every other Wednesday, 7-10pm. I play hip and fresh new jazz and rarely repeat a song. Find playlists and a streaming link at letscoolone.org.
